Cook County Under Tornado Warning Until 10 pm

A series of severe thunderstorms producing multiple tornadoes moved across the Chicago area on Monday evening, sparking tornado watches and warnings. The National Weather Service issued 13 tornado warnings in Chicagoland on Monday night, with Cook County being placed under a tornado warning until 10 pm as a potential twister was reported in downtown. On Tuesday, the tornado watches and warnings continued, covering 13 million people across Illinois and Indiana.

As of Wednesday, the National Weather Service has confirmed that at least 11 tornadoes touched down in parts of the Chicago area. One tornado, rated EF-2, caused significant damage in Geneva, Illinois, where it ripped through a residential neighborhood. Another tornado, rated EF-1, caused damage in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. No serious injuries or fatalities have been reported.

The National Weather Service is continuing to investigate the tornadoes and their impact. The agency is asking anyone who witnessed a tornado or has damage to their property to report it online at weather.gov.
